AT&T National  - Double Your Money!

Steve Bamford's AT&T National Double Your Money Special

Here's the drill:

Step 1, have an Extrabet account ready to use - this is important for these bets. If you haven't got an Extrabet account then you can open a new one here: going via this link will qualify you for a £100 basket of free fixed-odds bets and £100 casino bonus.

Step 2, pick 3 players in the Extrabet top-20 market with odds of 5/1 or longer. The reason that you place these with Extrabet is that there's no reduction for ties in their rules - so if your player ties with any other players for 20th spot then you still get full returns at the quoted price. This happens more regularly than you might expect! Place a level stake on each, ie £10, or whatever suits you.

Step 3, use the predictor to work out those players who are most likely to finish well at a long price. Typically you need to be looking at outright odds of 150/1 or longer to get a 5/1 top-20 price although there's no hard and fast rule here, you'll need to check the price with Extrabet via this link.

Step 4, if any one of your 3 players finishes in the top 20 or a tie for 20th then you'll at least double your money!

On that basis, here's my 3 picks. If you have a different 3 why not share them with us on Twitter or Facebook via the links at the top of this page?

Scott McCarron Top 20 @ 5/1

For a PGA Tour professional, being outside of the top 125 pros come the start of July starts to focus the mind and it’s definitely the case with Californian Scott McCarron. 12 Missed Cuts by the close of April and a best tournament finish of 21st just doesn’t pay the bills. However a 7th out of the blue at the classical fast bent Quail Hollow deposited $175k in the bank and that was followed up by a ‘contending’ 13th at TPC River Highlands last week again on bent grass greens. Scott played his college golf at UCLA and played Riviera extensively so it is never a surprise to see him play classical Par 70s well. Therefore a recent resume that includes 2nd + 17th at Sedgefield in 08/09, 4th at TPC Four Seasons in 09 and 5th + 8th at the Canadian Open in 08/09 strikes interest, as all of these are bent grass green classical courses. Scott can’t afford not to take his foot of the accelerator so will be motivated this week and he jumps off the page at 5/1 this week on the Ross Design Par 70 Aronimink Course. RESULT: T46

Michael Allen Top 20 11/2

It's true that Allen has missed the cut in his last 3 tournaments but read between the lines and the Arizona based Californian offers a superb Double Your Money opportunity this week. They always say horses for courses and Allen simply loves Donald Ross courses. Ok, he missed the cut at TPC River Highlands last week by bogeying the 18th on Friday. Ouch! However I’m putting that down to pure inactivity as he hadn’t played competitively since finishing 11th at the Senior PGA Championship in late May. The previous 2 visits to the Ross designed Highlands track yielded 6th in 08 and 14th last year. 2009 also included a stunning 5th at the Wyndham Championship on the Ross designed Sedgefield CC. 133rd in the Money List will start to focus the mind and I can see Allen “popping up” in Pennsylvania. RESULT: Missed Cut

Marc Leishman Top 20 5/1

Lets add a little youth to our experienced Double Your Money team. Young Marc Leishman is a lot of golfer for 5/1 to finish Top 20 this week. Has already finished in the Top 20 5 times during 2010, not bad for a player who finished T20 8 times in 2009 as a Tour rookie! Australian Leishman resides in Virginia Beach, down the coast from Philadelphia and is used to “up state” bent grass greens. He finished 12th as recently as late May at the bent grass Par 70 at TPC Four Seasons and it's clear that he plays fast bent extremely well. He finished 2nd at the BMW Championship and 13th at the Deutsche played in Illinois and Massachusetts. His price of 5/1 is based around 2 straight missed cuts at Memorial and Pebble Beach, but back on a course that suits his eye I’m expecting a better performance this week. RESULT: T7

Odds and offers correct 20:30BST 29.6.10 but naturally subject to fluctuation, particularly once everyone starts placing their bets on these players so be quick!!

Good Luck!!
