Why Change a Winning Formula?
Colonial in Dallas Texas has a rich tapestry all of it's own. Like Riviera GC in Los Angeles, Colonial is a truly classical course, where accuracy in tandem with shot placement is everything and where brutish power is punished. It doesn't allow itself to get over powered by +320 yard hitters, hence the entry list this week. Of the PGA Tour's 10 longest drivers, only Harrison Frazar (Dallas resident), Charley Hoffman and Scott Piercy are in the field this week.

Title Number 3 in 2009 for Ogilvy?
When you look at the five previous winners of the Colonial Invitational a couple of sequences bubble to the surface. Firstly, players with desert golf state links thrive here. However take the winners here at Colonial since 2004 and there is a link which is so crystal clear it has to be followed for the second consecutive week.
All of the past 5 champions have placed in the Top 35 at the preceeding US Masters. Augusta National 'sight lines' are very similar to those at Colonial and players who contended at Augusta National in April will succeed this week in Texas.
Marking Your Card players to watch for this week at the Crowne Plaza Invitational are:
Stephen Ames, Chad Campbell, Paul Casey, Tim Clark, Luke Donald, Ken Duke, Steve Flesch, Jim Furyk, Todd Hamilton, Ryuji Imada, Trevor Immelman, Anthony Kim, Hunter Mahan, John Merrick, Sean O'Hair, Geoff Ogilvy, Kenny Perry, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, Rory Sabbatini, Vijay Singh and Steve Stricker.
