Steve Bamford's Deutsche Bank Championship Double Your Money Special
Kevin Streelman obliged for last week's top 20 tips once again to give us a 133% profit on the week. Overall we're in good profit on both Tours from this for the season - click here to take a look at all the results for this season to date.
If you're new to the game, here's the drill:
Step 1, have an Extrabet account ready to use - this is important for these bets. If you haven't got an Extrabet account then you can open a new one here: going via this link will qualify you for a £100 basket of free fixed-odds bets and £100 casino bonus. Your first bet is matched by Extrabet (they place the same bet for you at the same price up to £25) so you can get even better returns on your first bet if you can pick a winner!
Step 2, pick 3 players in the Extrabet top-20 market with odds of 5/1 or longer. The reason that you place these with Extrabet is that there's no reduction for ties in their rules - so if your player ties with any other players for 20th spot then you still get full returns at the quoted price. This happens more regularly than you might expect! Place a level stake on each, ie £10, or whatever suits you.
Step 3, use the predictor or knowledge (or follow our tips!) to work out those players who are most likely to finish well at a long price. Typically you need to be looking at outright odds of 150/1 or longer to get a 5/1 top-20 price although there's no hard and fast rule here, you'll need to check the price with Extrabet via this link.
Step 4, if any one of your 3 players finishes in the top 20 or a tie for 20th then you'll at least double your money!
On that basis, here's my 3 picks. If you have a different 3 why not share them with us on Twitter or Facebook via the links at the top of this page?
11/2 Ryuji Imada
The Barclays saw Imada finally make the cut for the first time in 6 tournaments. The Florida-based Japanese player by his own high standards has had a terrible 2010, but despite that he sits in a ‘tempting’ 73rd position in the FedEx Cup standings. A decent Top 20 this week and he qualifies for the BMW Championship, something I doubt he anticipated. 3 consecutive Top 20 finishes in Boston across 2006 to 2008 shows that Imada is a class act and can play the Palmer designed course well. 7th and 17th at Bay Hill in the past 2 seasons highlight that he “has the eyes” for Palmer courses. RESULT: T57
11/2 Chris Couch
Journeyman Chris Couch has had his best ever season on the PGA Tour. 4th in Phoenix followed by 4th at Arnold’s Bay Hill tournament landed a cool $500,000 and pretty much guaranteed his card for 2011. No small deal for the Floridian. Since the start of the season Couch has continued to pop up on leader boards and now sits in a position where he could qualify in the Top 70 and get to the BMW Championship next week. 22nd at the Wyndham and 21st last week at The Barclays suggest he may well just do that on another Palmer design. RESULT: Missed Cut
5/1 Greg Chalmers
Aussies have a liking for TPC Boston and Chalmers finished a creditable 36th here last year. Greg has always saved his best performances for the fast bent grass greens of the North East of the US and a great 4th place at the recent Canadian Open at St Georges Toronto shows just what he can achieve in these conditions. 61st in the FedEx Cup so has everything to gain from a Top 20 position this week. RESULT: T41
Best of luck this week!
