PW's Dubai World Championship Tips
The European Tour's elite descend on the unknown quantity that is the Earth Course, Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai for the long-awaited season finale. The Greg Norman designed course is a monster at 7,675 yards and will prove a Major-esque challenge for the 58 contestants.
Only 4 players have a mathematical chance of winning the inaugural Race To Dubai title: Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Ross Fisher. Although with the focus on these 4, where is the value in this week's field?
If you're considering a flutter this week then Bet 365 are currently offering a 100% bonus deposit (if you open an account) up to a maximum of an incredible £210 - essentially they'll match the value of your first deposit of between £10 and £200 in free bets. This is an outstanding offer from a top bookmaker:
Anyway, onto my tips. Here's how I used the predictor to get my picks:
1. 'Form horses'
Clear down the predictor by clicking reset, then load up the Last Tournament and last but 1-3 tournaments. My picks:
Thongchai Jaidee 2pts top-10 finish 5-1 with Bet 365 - click here to get up to £210 of free bets with Bet365. The man from Thailand is having an impressive run late in the season with 4 consecutive top-20s in his last 4 starts. With 2 wins already this season he's proved his pedigree once again, plus can play the tough courses well - a T13 at Turnberry and a top-40 finish at the PGA will set him in good stead here.
Wen-Chong Liang 2pts top-10 finish 9-1 with Bet 365 - click here to get up to £210 of free bets with Bet365. Seems to play his best golf in the East with creditable finishes in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong, the latter 2 in recent weeks. His price reflects his relative anonymity....let's cash in on the bookies' naivety!
2. Course setup
Load up Driving Accuracy and Driving Distance - key in my book to success this week:
Rafael Cabrera-Bello 2pts top-10 finish 12-1 with Paddy Power - bet £10 get £20 with Paddy Power, click here. Cabrera-Bello is relatively straight for a long-hitter and that will set him in good stead this week. Greg Norman designed this course to keep players honest - however short and honest doesn't work on a 7,600+ monster! Shot the round of his life to steal the Austrian Open, however he has 5 top-10s this season to prove that he's a class act. Taken his foot off the pedal in the last few weeks, however should be up for this challenge on a course that will be right up his alley.
Load up all of the above:
Rory McIlroy 4pts Win 9-1 with Bet 365 - click here to get up to £210 of free bets with Bet365. The reason I've gone top-10 on the guys above is simple - I reckon that Rory will take this title, albeit after a bit of a battle. His recent form - 4 top 5s in his last 5 starts - is outstanding and he knows that securing a win here is critical to guarantee him the Race To Dubai title. Won earlier this season in Dubai so will have positive vibes coming into this. A worthy favourite and one which I won't oppose.
Of course you may disagree with this - in which case play with the predictor to your heart's content and see if you can unearth any gems!
