SB’s FBR Open 2009 Tips

Congratulations to Monty, who will be a REAL captain at Celtic Manor. Lets bring the cup home in 2010.On the PGA Tour we move from Californian desert, to Arizona and more desert! TPC Scottsdale, home of the biggest spectator golf tournament in the world, The FBR Open. With over 500,000 spectators and the infamous 16^th ‘stadium hole’ the atmosphere is wild. Long driving onto wide fairways makes power an advantage with 3 makeable Par 5s. Low scoring, bar breaking and great putting is essential. Go with form horses with course / local knowledge.

My tips are below:

Anthony Kim 1pt EW @ 13/1 Skybet Power, low scoring and will feed off the crowd.

Geoff Ogilvy 1pt EW @ 18/1 Totesport In great nick and knows the course well.

Matthew Goggin 1pt EW @ 66-1 General Form from Australia, carried over into a decent performance at Bob Hope. Great form with putter.

Charles Howell III 1 pt EW @ 50-1 General Previously close at FBR and rejuvenated at Sony Open.

Webb Simpson 1pt Top 10 @ 13/2 General This rookie has the mo you know.

Kevin Sutherland 1pt Top 10 @ 15/2 Bet 365 Top 5 and Top 20, since 2005. In decent enough nick at Bon Hope.

PW's Tips

Aaron Baddeley knows every blade of this course being a Scottsdale resident, he's won it before and was getting some timely form over in Qatar last weekend. He might not be quite ready for a win, but top 10 should be a formality. Some really tasty prices on offer and, with some of the big guns likely to be rusty at the start, some real scope for some big money first-round leader returns:
