Sony Open Golf Tips

We don’t self congratulate ourselves as a habit but last week’s performance was top notch.  Firstly congratulations to our Euro Tour peer, Paul Williams who bagged a superb double win and a 31.7 point return!  You’re a lovely bloke and a great tipster (I’m looking forward to that beer you promised me this Saturday for saying that!).  Our SBS and Africa Open predictors also bagged both tournament winners……who were our No1 Predictor Picks.  You never know there could be something worth following at Golf Betting System.

I also want to take this opportunity to highlight a brilliant offering from Extrabet.  They are the only bookmaker currently offering place bet ties paid out in full.  So what I hear you cry!  Well back a player for a Top 5, Top 10 and Top 20 finish and if they tie for that place you get paid the FULL odds.  Put another way Paul’s tied Top 10 place return at last week’s Africa Open of would have increased from 13.2 to 22 points!

For Top 10 & Top 20 betting we will use Extrabet wherever possible and we are enjoying their £320 of FREE BETS promotion – Click here for this offer.

The PGA Tour moves onto the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club in Hawaii.   It’s the first full field event and I’ll keep the analysis succinct.  The course is a tight Par 70, where accuracy and GIR% are key.  Plodders will prosper!  The tournament is ALWAYS won by an experienced PGA Tour winner, who is accurate off the tee and who is a shot shaper/maker. Interestingly every Sony Open also uncovers a PGA Tour ‘rookie’ who performs superbly at the opening event and this year will be no different. So this is the player resume we need for Sony Open success this week:

1) PGA Tour Winner   2) Preferable a winner in 2009 3) Previous Sony Open Waialee course experience 4) Plays traditional/tight courses well 5) Sub 290 yard driver 6) Played successfully at Kapalua last week.  7) In decent nick – in Fall Series or over the winter.

Cameron Percy 2pts Top 20 @ 9/2 - RESULT: Missed Cut

Never heard of him?  Well Percy qualified for the PGA Tour after a successful Nationwide campaign last year.  He finished with 8 Top 10s and finished 8th on the Money List with a couple of great ‘seaside’ performances.  Allied to a great 2009 in America Percy also had an amazing ‘summer down-under.’ 6th behind Tiger in the Australian Masters, was backed up with 22nd in the Australian PGA Championship.  Tellingly though Percy also finished a creditable 7th at the windswept coastal challenge of NSW Golf Club, in the Australian Open behind Adam Scott and Appleby.  Percy could easily be the rookie that grabs the attention this week.
