Steve Bamford's HP Byron Nelson Championship Double Your Money Special
Here's the drill:
Step 1, have an Extrabet account ready to use - this is important for these bets. If you haven't got an Extrabet account then you can open a new one here: going via this link will qualify you for a £100 basket of free fixed-odds bets and £100 casino bonus.
Step 2, pick 3 players in the Extrabet top-20 market with odds of 5/1 or longer. The reason that you place these with Extrabet is that there's no reduction for ties in their rules - so if your player ties with any other players for 20th spot then you still get full returns at the quoted price. This happens more regularly than you might expect! Place a level stake on each, ie £10, or whatever suits you.
Step 3, use the predictor to work out those players who are most likely to finish well at a long price. Typically you need to be looking at outright odds of 150/1 or longer to get a 5/1 top-20 price although there's no hard and fast rule here, you'll need to check the price with Extrabet via this link.
Step 4, if any one of your 3 players finishes in the top 20 or a tie for 20th then you'll at least double your money!
On that basis, here's my 3 picks. If you have a different 3 why not share them with us on Twitter or Facebook via the links at the top of this page?
Yuta Ikeda 6/1. A player in the World Top 50 should not be at 6/1 to finish Top 20, but I can see Extrabet’s market makers' reasons behind the price. Japan’s Number 2 has ventured into the US on a number of occasions and T30 results at The Masters and WGC Championship show that he can mix it in the strongest of fields. I’ve tipped him in my main selections for a Top 10 at 15/1 and love the Top 20 price on a ‘Japanese friendly’ course where Maruyama won in 2002 and Imada finished Top 10 in 2007. RESULT: T50
Nathan Green 6/1. Notoriously streaky Green has missed 3 cuts in a row since placing 60th at The Masters. However he won the Canadian Open in a play-off over Retief Goosen last year after missing 2 straight cuts so the 6/1 offers value. Green who lives in nearby Dallas has a consistent record around TPC Four Seasons where he has never missed a cut in 4 attempts and for Nathan that’s pretty damn amazing! Recent 4th and 5th placed finishes at next week’s Colonial course show how Green can play classical Bent grass courses well and he’s a wind positive player. RESULT: T63
Roland Thatcher 6/1. I’ll be honest I know very little about this Houston, Texas resident. Its not a crime! However I do know that he finished 7th on debut here in 2008 and that his current game is looking strong. Interestingly he finished a completely unheralded 2nd behind Tiger Woods at the Buick Open last year on 12 stimp bent greens. 22nd in Houston and 10th at New Orleans show that 3rd season pro Thatcher is in decent nick so worth a little Double Your Money action. RESULT: Missed Cut
Good Luck!!
