On paper this is naturally a close call but I’m a serious believer both in Stricker this week and never back a player first time out of the box. You can read my full analysis of Stricker within my main tips but when it comes to classical shot making courses on fast bent greens he is an exceptional talent. Where he has supremacy over Donald this week is the fact that he banked 3 appearances in 2011, which have gleaned a couple of Top 10 finishes.
Donald on the other-hand will be rusty as this is his 2011 debut. His recent season debut positions have been 2010 – MC (Sony) 2009 – 23rd (Sony) 2008 – 11th (Abu Dhabi) 2007 – 7th (Mercedes – invitational small field) & 2006 – 24th (Torrey Pines). Conclusion: there is scope for profit where if both were up to speed there wouldn’t be. RESULT: 282-294, 11.5 Points Profit

His early Friday AM tee slot may also help in terms of missing the worst of the blustery conditions. Now a full member of the PGA Tour, don’t expect a half-hearted effort from a player whose record on tough courses featuring bent greens is first class. I’m expecting a Top 30 finish at the very least from the former World Top 10 player on his US seasonal debut. RESULT: T62, 25.5 Points Loss
