Paul Williams' Omega European Masters Double Your Money Special
Paul Waring was 1 shot away from securing us another result in this format - not to worry, overall we're in good profit on both Tours from this for the season - click here to take a look at all the results for this season to date.
If you're new to the game, here's the drill:
Step 1, have an Extrabet account ready to use - this is important for these bets. If you haven't got an Extrabet account then you can open a new one here: going via this link will qualify you for a £100 basket of free fixed-odds bets and £100 casino bonus. Your first bet is matched by Extrabet (they place the same bet for you at the same price up to £25) so you can get even better returns on your first bet if you can pick a winner!
Step 2, pick 3 players in the Extrabet top-20 market with odds of 5/1 or longer. The reason that you place these with Extrabet is that there's no reduction for ties in their rules - so if your player ties with any other players for 20th spot then you still get full returns at the quoted price. This happens more regularly than you might expect! Place a level stake on each, ie £10, or whatever suits you.
Step 3, use the predictor or knowledge (or follow our tips!) to work out those players who are most likely to finish well at a long price. Typically you need to be looking at outright odds of 150/1 or longer to get a 5/1 top-20 price although there's no hard and fast rule here, you'll need to check the price with Extrabet via this link.
Step 4, if any one of your 3 players finishes in the top 20 or a tie for 20th then you'll at least double your money!
On that basis, here's my 3 picks. If you have a different 3 why not share them with us on Twitter or Facebook via the links at the top of this page?
Fabrizio Zanotti 5/1
Back to the well again this week, I hear you cry! I make no excuses for picking Zanotti for the 4th time this season - he's paid out twice already in this format and I'm banking on him making it a hat-trick this week. In his last 11 starts, Zanotti has 5 top-20 finishes to his name, coming in a sequence of virtually every other tournament: last week he missed the cut following a T-13 at Prosper - time for another top 20 to keep his sequence going...RESULT: M/C
Richie Ramsay 5/1
It's easy to forget that Ramsay has already won on Tour this season, however his victory in South Africa just before Christmas is there for all to see. Since then he's had positive performances in a number of events with 3 further top 20 finishes, most recently in Ireland when a final round 64 catapulted him to 9th position. Was also in a good position for a top 20 finish or better in the Czech Republic before a poor Sunday put paid to that - this course will suit his game much better as he boasts a top-20 position in the GIR stats for the season to date. RESULT: M/C
Steven O'Hara 11/2
The Scot achieved just his second top 20 of a consistent-yet-unspectacular season last week with a typical display of strong iron-play - he leads the Tour this season for GIR with an outstanding 75.9% of greens hit over 61 rounds of golf. With a course that will suit his strengths and some improving form coming into this event, a repeat of his 2007,2005 & 2001 top-20 finishes here is a distinct possibility. RESULT: M/C
Best of luck this week!
