The Masters 2010. Surely it’s time for a home victory? Well even if you aren’t that confident you can still play the highly popular and potentially lucrative Top GB and Ireland market.
Our profit pundit Steve Bamford takes you through the runners and riders. Make sure you read his 2 tips to watch and then move quickly! Could well make you or save you a few quid!
The big 5 dominate the market as you’d expect, but as ever don’t expect the norm from us here at Golf Betting System. We’re challenging the establishment with 2 longer shots who we think have a superb week ahead of them at Augusta. Here’s a short summary of my views around the Top 5.
Padraig Harrington – Paddy for me is too wayward off the tee at the moment. Constantly fighting with himself to keep the ball in-play and you can’t fight your way to contention around Augusta. The jury is still very much out in terms of his current weakness to convert contention into wins.
Lee Westwood - I genuinely believe that Westwood went for the win in Houston and that will scupper his chances at what is clearly his least favoured major track. I’d like to be wrong but factually I can’t see Westwood winning this week.
Paul Casey –
Better tipsters than me (arguably!) believe that Casey will win this year. I
can see their reasoning and the injury last week in Houston was a superb move... You can’t argue with his Augusta record, but his weakness on Par 3s and relative lack of accuracy with irons into lightening fast pin positions will be his downfall at some point during the 4 days.
Ian Poulter – The World Match Play Champion has cracked America! His move to Orlando has certainly benefited his career. Augusta is unique though and Poults' game just doesn’t suit. Why? Like Casey he struggles getting the ball close to the pin regularly enough with irons and his driving accuracy although not disastrous is wayward. Could hang around the fringes of the leaderboard, but can’t see him contending.
Rory McIlroy – Would love to be wrong, but boy wonder
has inevitably hit the buffers. You can’t expect him to perform week in week out, month in month out and not have lulls. He’s in a dip of form and confidence which Augusta won’t help.
So, all things considered, my tips for top GB and
Ireland are below:

Others get the plaudits, but newly based Florida resident Donald
just gets on with it. Has been playing brilliantly in 2010 to date
and has a habit of ‘creeping’ up Major leader boards. Take his 5th
in The Open last year: no-one noticed him until he signed his card
on the 72nd! Yes, but he’s not long enough is the obvious response,
but a 3rd and 10th in 5 attempts would suggest that Donald, who has
a great new caddy relationship, will feel right at home in
potentially blustery conditions. Number 1 on the PGA Tour for sand
saves and scrambling won’t harm his chances either. |

10th at the PGA last year was great reward for a superbly consistent
performance across all 4 Majors in 2009. G Mac then backed that up
with a 2nd place in the World Team Cup and 2nd in the Chevron World
Challenge to prove to himself that he belongs on the world stage.
His 2010 campaign has started steadily but positively, with decent
performances on Florida’s Bermuda greens culminating in 6th at the
WGC CA at Doral. 16/1 is SUPER value for a player that lives in
Florida and understands US southern-state golf after going to
college in neighbouring Alabama. |
