We should have known after South Korean Y.E. Yang's tremendous triumph last weekend that the CA Championship WGC would have a considerble international flavour. Well Jeev M Singh and Prayad Marksaeng co lead with Golfbettingsystem tips Retief Goosen and Phil Mickelson after all shooting 7 under 65s. Lefty led the way with 9 birdies in his round with a double bogey at the 3rd the only blot on the card. The other 3 co-leaders shot 8 birdies with single bogies. Three South Africans sit in the Top 10 with the un-heralded James Kingston and inform Louis Oosthuizen just off the early pace.

The Blue Monster at Doral truly is a 'Jekkyll and Hyde' course, which can be an absolute beast if the wind is strong. However today conditions were perfect and when conditions are tranquil, the course is there for low scores.

Of the big names, Irishman Padraig Harrington sits one shot back on 6 under after shooting a clean round of 66. Columbian Camillo Villegas sits at 5 under with Northen Ireland 'super boy' Rory McIllroy and American Jim Furyk at 4 under. Even big Fijian Vijay Singh joined the world party and in showing signs of returning to form he shot a 3 under 69.

And what about the battle for World Number 1 supremacy? Tiger on his return to stroke play tournament golf shot a solid 71. His approach play was strong but the putter didn't fire. Naturally we await a charge, but will it arrive? Sergio Garcia shot a level par 72, his game again blighted by problems with the flat stick.
