I made my case for Palmer in my main tips: Palmer now sits proudly in the World’s Top 64 players and believe me with the WGC Matchplay and Doral events just around the corner he’ll want to stay there. He has course experience, is long enough off the tee and all 3 of his PGA Tour wins have been on his beloved Bermuda. With a liking for Florida Resort style courses and a decent ‘winter’ culminating in a Top 20 at Disney after a solid debut at the WGC event in Shanghai, I’m thinking 66s is excellent value where he’s priced as short as 50/1 by other bookmakers.
Sell at 19 is amazing value in a field of 34. Anything better than a 19th place finish and we're in profit. Palmer was 2nd at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational event in 2010 so has the belief now to be able to mix it with the worlds very best. His Hawaii form is positive especially after he won the Sony Open on the island last year to qualify for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. RESULT: T15th, 3.5 Points Profit
This spread for me is an absolute no-brainer. The scores on this market work as below so: 10 points for finishing 4th out of the US players; 20 points for 3rd; 30 Points for 2nd and 50 for 1st. When we buy Garrigus at 1.5-3 a 4th place finish amongst the US participants would generate a 7 point profit. Intriguingly Champions of the Disney event in November have thrived the following January at Kapalua. Ames finished 3rd in 2008, with Love III finishing 2nd in 2009.
If Garrigus continues this trend, it will be happy days and it’s not out of the realms of possibility. On a +7,400 Par 73 course, where length off the tee is a huge advantage I can see the in-form and confident Garrigus kicking on from his last performance where he won the Disney event by a country mile. Fact is all of his best performances have been on his beloved Bermuda greens. At the very worst we will only lose 3 points if he finishes as last US player, but I simply can’t see that happening. RESULT: 2nd, 27 Points Profit
